Blue Moon

When I see a blue moon rise

As I gaze out of my door

And a little black cat

Creeps across my path

And there are rose petals on the floor

And the only sound as I look around

Is the sound of the willow trees yawning -

I'll just shake my head

And go back to bed

And try again in the morning.

And when my sun has crossed your sky

And dipped neath your horizon

What will you have to remember me by?

Nothing, and not surprising,

Because sometimes I look out of my window,

Sometimes I look out of my door

Sometimes I look and see a rainbow

And then I don't believe it's happening any more.

I've seen friends go to prison

And I've seen friends go to hell;

I let them slip away from me

And never even wished them well

But I'm not going to stand right by

And watch you go to the wall

So if you only come into my arms

I'll never let you fall.

I could make you a present of the future

And wipe away the tears of the past

Give you the love you know you need to save you

And keep you sane and heal your pain at last.

Ah, but sometimes I look out of my window

Sometimes I look out of my door

Sometimes I look and see a rainbow

And I don't believe it's happening any more.
